Selecting a Retrieve Volume

There are two ways to retrieve your files, based on your computer and the WD drive or drives connected to your computer. For example, you may use a single WD drive to back up information from more than one or more computers, or you may have several WD drives connected to your computer, from which you want to select a specific WD drive to retrieve files from. The following sections describe each option for retrieving files.

Retrieving From a Single WD Drive

If you use a single WD drive to back up files from more than one or more computers (volumes), each volume name is displayed on the Retrieve screen. To select the volume to which you want to retrieve files, you select its name on the Retrieve screen.

To retrieve a backup volume from a single WD drive:

  1. On the Retrieve tab, click the desired volume name from the Backed Up Volumes area at the right side of the screen.
  2. Click Select Destination to select the desired retrieve destination.

Retrieving from Multiple WD Drives

If more than one WD drive is connected to your computer, all WD drives are displayed across the top of the Home screen. To retrieve files from one of the WD drive, you start by selecting the drive on the Home screen. You can retrieve files from one WD drive at a time.

To retrieve a backup volume from multiple WD drives:

  1. On the Home tab, click the WD drive icon at the top of the screen; then click the Retrieve tab.
  2. Click Select Destination to select the desired retrieve destination.
