Logging On with Administrator Privileges

You must be logged on to your computer as a user with administrative privileges to install the WD SmartWare™ software on your drive. The WD SmartWare software is included on your drive as a Virtual CD (VCD), which appears on the desktop as a CD-ROM. The VCD includes the WD SmartWare software, user documentation, and other utilities and files that require administrative privileges.

To log on as an administrator:

Click Exit; then log off and log back on to your computer.

Note: If you are the owner of your computer, you are the administrator by default. If another individual has set up your system for you as the administrator, you will need to contact that person to log in as an administrator, and may also have to request administrative privileges.
