Updating the Firmware on Your Device

The WD Firmware updater is used for the My Book Studio and all other My Book and Passport drives. If the firmware cannot be updated on the specified drive, a message appears to indicate that the firmware update failed.

If a firmware update fails, do the following:

1. Click Exit; then close all other open applications on your computer.
2. Run the WD Firmware updater again.

After the WD Firmware update is complete, do one of the following:

For My Book Studio:

  Click Exit to close the WD Firmware Updater utility screen; then restart your computer.

For all other My Book and Passport drives:

  Click Exit to close the WD Firmware Updater utility screen; then power cycle your WD drive.
